A loaded semi can weigh 20 to 30 times what your vehicle weighs, so the injuries tend to be more serious, the insurance behind the truck is usually far larger, and there are often several companies, not just one driver, who can be held responsible. All of that changes what a claim can be worth and how hard you have to fight to prove it. This guide explains how Michigan law treats truck crash injuries, who can be on the hook beyond the driver, the federal safety rules that often decide fault, and the honest factors that drive the value of a case like yours.<\/p>\n<h2 class='kb-h2'>Two Money Streams After a Michigan Truck Crash<\/h2>\n<p>Michigan is a no-fault state, and that framework applies to truck crashes just as it does to car crashes. It helps to think of your case as two claims running on separate tracks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>First, your no-fault (PIP) benefits.<\/strong> These come from auto insurance regardless of who caused the crash. A personal auto policy in Michigan often carries modest liability limits.
