The opinion confirms what the rules of professional conduct already imply: a lawyer who relies on an AI output without an appropriate degree of independent verification can violate the duty of competence under MRPC 1.1. A vendor&#8217;s accuracy claim does not shift that duty, and there is no waiver that lets a lawyer skip the check.
